IMPACT REPORT
Fantastic Opportunity
The Jean Freedman Music Foundation funding has ensured that Oasis Henderson Avenue Academy has been able to continue with peripatetic woodwind lessons and has given many more young people the opportunity to play the violin.
With the funding that the Jean Freedman Society gave us we were able to purchase 20 new violins, this with the violins that the school already had means that we now have over 30 people learning the violin. The money we saved on hiring the instruments also meant that we were able to keep our peripatetic woodwind teacher.
This has given our children a fantastic musical opportunity and has meant that post covid we have been able to give more children a chance of playing an instrument than ever before. Oasis Academy are proud that all our instrumental lessons are free to our children. Without this funding we possibly would not have being able to continue this free access.
Here are some of our enthusiastic beginners.
The children told us these things:
‘ I never thought I would get chance to play a violin’ Kaydee
‘I always thought that playing an instrument was only for posh kids’ Amelia
‘ learning an instrument has given me more confidence’ Esme
Future Plans
Since receiving the grant we have re- formed the orchestra
and last year we managed to enter some beginner violinists for Scunthorpe Music Festival. This year we are hoping to enter both the North Lincolnshire Festival and the Scunthorpe Festival.
All this, especially with the impact of covid would not have been possible without the funding from the Jean Freedman Foundation.
