IMPACT REPORT

The Jean Freedman Foundation funding has ensured that St Peter and St Paul CE Primary School has been able to give a varied safe and inclusive music curriculum after lock down.

We had planned our new music curriculum in 2019 to include recorders but unfortunately it was not safe to use them because of the pandemic and the risk of infection.

We are very grateful to the Jean Freedman Foundation for the funding to be able to buy a class set of percussion instruments. This has enabled us to cover all aspects of the curriculum, including notation, composition and improvisation, allowing our children to be extremely creative.

Here are some of the children playing the chime bars.

These are some of the comments the children said

‘I love the chime bars and I love playing music’ Lily

‘Music makes me happy’ Layla

‘I really, really like music’ Ella

‘Music lessons are really fun. It calms me down’ Emily

‘Music is amazing’ Annabel

Having percussion instruments has meant that our music curriculum was able to recover after the pandemic.

We have even begun an all-inclusive band which includes ks1 players. The band played in worship before Christmas and we are hoping to enter Scunthorpe music festival this year.

All this would not have been possible without the funding from the Jean Freedman Foundation.
