Marvellous Music at Elloughton!

Marvellous Music at Elloughton!

The Jean Freedman Music Foundation Has Enabled Elloughton Primary School to Employ a Part-Time Musician

The Jean Freedman Music Foundation has enabled Elloughton Primary School to employ a part-time musician who is actively developing all areas of music across the school and raising the profile of this wonderful subject amongst the children.

Music lessons occur every week in KS2. The children are thoroughly enjoying learning about and using untuned and tuned percussion instruments to compose and perform their own melodies. During the Spring term, children in Years 3 and 4 are learning music through the glockenspiel, whilst Year 5 and 6 pupils are enjoying playing the recorder.

At the end of 2019, our newly formed Christmas Choir performed with energy and confidence at the local Christmas Tree Festival, the Ladies Golf Club Christmas Meal, our School Fayre and at our school Christmas Service in the local church. The singing was amazing!

Celebration Assemblies

During our Celebration Assemblies on a Friday morning, a new musical 'Spot' has been introduced.  This 'Spot' allows children to showcase their musical talents.

Pupils have played the piano, keyboard, recorder and guitar and a few have also sung some popular songs. Many children have performed since its launch in October, with a long waiting list for future performances. Much hidden musical talent has been revealed and it is wonderful to watch the children performing with increasing confidence and self-belief. They are rewarded for their efforts with a certificate and housepoints.
